ESC, Inc has been providing innovative engineering design and solutions to various industries for over 30 years. Since our founding in 1988, ESC, Inc. has had a strong focus on Process Engineering design with an emphasis on food processing.

We keep good company.

Below are just a few of the companies we’ve partnered with.

Custom Process Solutions tailored
to meet your specific needs

Gene Bybee, the founder of ESC, had an extensive career as a process engineer at DFA (formerly Mid-America Dairy), and so when starting ESC, Inc., it was natural for ESC to continue to provide Process Engineering Design as a consultant to manufacturers in the Springfield area.  Over the years, ESC has established itself as a leader in the field. Now, with the launch of its new division, ESC Process Solutions, the firm aims to highlight its expertise in process engineering design. Led by a team of experienced professionals, ESC Process Solutions offers customized solutions to meet the unique needs of its clients. With a proven track record of success, ESC Process Solutions is the ideal partner for any company looking to expand or optimize its manufacturing processes.

Our company has a proven track record of success in the industrial process, food process, and pharmaceutical industries. With over 30 years of experience in process, our team of skilled professionals collaborates with reliable equipment suppliers and contractors to ensure that our clients' projects are completed on time and with long-term success in mind.  Our team can oversee every aspect of the project, from design, procurement and supply of the process equipment components, to the installation, commissioning, and startup of the process design.  Our goal is to provide comprehensive processing solutions to our clients, making us their go-to resource for all their needs.

Process Solutions

Quality Process Engineering design is a specialized applied engineering that focuses on the design, operation, control, and optimization of various processes and products. ESC has spent over 30 years providing process engineering solutions to our clients in the chemical, food, mining, material handling, and pharmaceutical industries.

Understanding you and the products you manufacture is at the forefront of any project or design we begin. Our most successful projects are those that have allowed our team of process engineers to work alongside our client’s product development and research teams and with them create innovative process design solutions.

Part of what makes process engineering designs innovative is understanding the technological advances being made within the equipment and instrumentation in this industry. One of the most rewarding aspects to design is finding simple, yet unique and innovative solutions for our clients.

What makes us special?

In plant experience

  • Several of our team members have come from client’s / plant’s side

  • Heart for service because we know our client’s needs (at all levels of the organization)

  • We like to work with the operations team’s to truly understand the operation from their perspective

Process knowledge

  • We try to understand the product(s) and processes at their most basic level.

  • For quality process design, understanding the operational needs of the process, nature of the product(s) involved, and how the processing equipment affects the products is key to developing strong process designs.

  • Understanding sanitation and CIP and more importantly, how to approach these with a process design is key to designing robust systems that are capable of delivering the functionality our clients need.

Flexibility

  • Simple, flexible, and highly interactive systems capable of producing various products within and single functioning process skid/system.

  • Fully automated, limited operator interface, highly efficient systems that require little to no operator interaction.

Why ESC?

ESC is blessed with a technically talented team of engineers, programmers, and technicians that ALSO have a heart for service.  Our experience allows us to serve large and small clients while the relatively small size of our firm allows us to be responsive to our client’s ever changing needs.  By listening and responding to our clients needs, we can support Fortune 500 companies (and those that are much smaller) on projects of any size.

  • From viscous food pumping and handling, to adhesives, and even explosives, our team has solved issues with pumps, valves, tanks, and mixing systems for many different industries. Our team strives to come up with the most elegant solutions possible to meet the client’s needs (and often some of their “wants”).

  • Receiving, conveying, mixing, and packaging of powders requires an understanding of what the powders are and how they react to handling. Often special equipment is needed, as well as systems to safely capture dust, which can often be explosive in nature. ESC has experience handling many types of powders and dealing with dust in food and chemical processing environments.

  • If piping and equipment is not cleanable and/or can’t be cleaned in an efficient and effective way, food/pharmaceuticals can’t be produced. Our team has extensive experience with identifying and solving issues related to optimizing designs for CIP, SIP and environmental washdown cleaning. We understand what it takes to make a sanitary design that is fully cleanable/sterilizable both inside and out. We can also design/provide a custom CIP/SIP system for your unique needs.

  • ESC understands the rigorous processes that need to be followed to produce a successful pharmaceutical installation. The design must be compliant with BPE, and the installation must be fully documented and tested. From development of detailed 3D weld maps and weld inspection services, to writing and executing IQ/OQ/PQ protocols, ESC can help with almost any aspect of a new pharmaceutical project.
